Made the Brakes Glow!! Clio Turbos Take on Brands Hatch 🏁
In this episode we head to Brands Hatch post-lockdown evening track session. Since the last episode the cup had its turbo exhaust gasket replaced and benefits from Carbon Lorraine RC8 pads on the front and PBS on the rear.
For the new socially distanced trackdays the briefing is done online and has been pulled off really well by MSV.

Glad you enjoyed it. We just used a megane 225 headgasket to reduce cylinder temperatures/pressure but there is no requirement to do so. All other compression parts remained standard.

Yeah it was ACS but they don’t exist anymore. There is a firm called pro-am racing which make them but only for the mk2 clio.
Hello the engine parts are original? And original parts is ok for turbo power ?
More or less yes. I used a Megane head gasket to reduce combustion temperatures, Megane keywayed crank pulley and super tech valves although none of those are technically required.
Great work! What did you do with the fasteners, are they new or did you electroplate them? 2 years on how has the gearbox fared?
They’re tumble cleaned and plated by a company called TSR vapour blasting. The box had an issue as it was incorrectly assembled when the diff was fitted but if it was put together correctly would have been no trouble. I don’t own the car anymore but understand it’s all working well

Hey mate, not anymore, I sold it a while back to someone who is still using it to its full capability. Life moved on and I didn’t have the time to use or maintain it anymore. Same with the 1 series. Some pretty boring videos of a trackday I did at the Nurburgring on the sister channel lesstrackit in its replacement but that’s now sold too!

Did you do the fuel rail conversion with the FPR on the rail and running a return to the tank? Ive built a turbo 172 with a fuel return and FPR on the rail as was advised using the intank FPR can cause issues due to being unable to reference manifold pressure....or some such

Hi Alberto, standard f4r rail non return.
Blower in my 182 works on the bench but not in the car I presume its the actual climate unit thats packed up.
Could be a lot of things. I would suspect the resistor pack which is a common fault on the climate control cars.
Hi just came across this video excellant idea . Was wondering though do you need to connect all the black wires and all the yellow wires could you just use one of each?. the PSU i have has twice the number of yellow wires you have ?
You could probably do less but just need to consider the conductor size relative to the max draw. Too great of a resistance and you’ll get voltage drop as the wires heat up.
Nice video but even if u have memory buttons for radio stations if the car stereo is not getting power it will loose the pre sets. Those buttons will keep memory only if there is a constant power getting in the stereo. Keep up with the good work 🙂
I was surprised but this radio had a memory with no power. Agree with what you say, in most instances that wouldn’t be the case so this was a fluke.

Hey Lee, Yes the 100 has a different gearbox which doesn’t have cross comparable driveshafts with the 172/182. There are some guys which have had custom shafts made up for the job but unfortunately I have no idea on the specs. All the best with your project

did it smell like rotten eggs ? I’m having multiple random misfires code and I’m wondering if it’s injector related and ht leads/coil packs, or injectors, knowing my injectors are 3 weeks old but they are bigger 330c injectors to run e85, everything was right up until it started misfiring while driving and smelt like rotten eggs, what do you think ?

Hi could you help me I have the flashing emissions light only when the car is idling as soon as I drive off it goes. My clio sounds ruff any ideas ?
That could well be the primary lambda sensor. Unplug it and the car will run on a safety map with closed loop. If it runs better than replace it. If not and injectors isn’t the issue look at ignition parts.
@@TrackItYT I replaced the sensor recently with Bosch ones in the last 2 years in fact. Because of the fuel problem I ran my car really low on fuel and didn’t use it for 4 weeks . As soon as it starts driving my flashing emissions just goes off and I haven’t lost any power either
That will be an injector. No issue running low on fuel in a plastic tank. Not driving will mean sticking injectors, has happened to me previously.

Did you say you are running standard cams? I'll be putting a turbo kit on my engine this winter, just after some advanced regarding the spec of engine as I'll be rebuilding it before I put the kit on. Cheers
Yeah standard cams are best for turbo.
